An important aspect of the activities of Trias is to increase the income of farmers and entrepreneurs by improving the access to local and regional markets.
An important strategy hereby is the 'chain approach'. Several aspects of the 'production chain' are taken into account: the functions of companies (from production until consumption), their benefits and relations and the one’s of the supporting markets, the governance factors that influence the chain in a positive or negative way.
Trias uses the analysis of the 'production chain' to improve the position of the focus group and their access to the market. A more efficient production, processing, distribution and marketing are essential in order to fulfill the growing demands of competition and the higher standards of quality and of production processes.
Trias works with a broad range of chain types. In agriculture these are coffee, cacao, sunflower, rice, potato, beans, peanuts, shea and the production of the better seeds. In cattle breeding these are milk, chicken, pigs and bees. Trias also works in fishery and fish processing, food industry and handicrafts. Finally Trias supports economic activities such as ecotourism and retail.
Individual farmers or entrepreneurs can’t do this work on their own. Representative organizations of farmers or entrepreneurs must work with their members to improve the access to the markets and to obtain a better place in the production chain.
