All Trias partner organizations in the South focus on disadvantaged enterprising people. They have a social goal and are participative. This means that enterprising people are asked to become a member of the organization, to participate in the decision making process and to participate in decisions about local economic development.
Trias pays a lot of attention to the improvement and the consolidation of the participation. The success of socio-economic development depends on the success of the empowerment of the focus group. Empowerment means that people decide on their own how they want to develop their lives and activities. The participation also depends on the Trias strategy of Local Economic Development.
Trias chooses to collaborate in the first place with family farmers and micro-entrepreneurs and their organizations. Trias starts with their point of view when working on local economic development. This means that the challenge group takes her position in this process.
The selection of the partner organizations for each region is a thorough process. Parameters for this selection are the representation of the focus group of poor family farmers and small entrepreneurs, the participation of this focus group in the local economic development and its influence on it. That’s why Trias chooses partner organizations that are a mixture of member organizations and organizations that facilitate assistance.
